This article tells about the importance of forming the speech culture of students studying in the specialty "Journalism", the role of language competence in connection with it, the ways and methods of forming speech culture. In addition, information is provided on the concepts of linguistic competence of students studying in higher educational institutions, methods for considering and using a wide range of principles based on modern methods of teaching foreign languages
