PRECEDENT TEXTS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS IN MODERN MASS LITERATURE (BASED ON THE WORKS OF TATYANA POLYAKOVA)

The article deals with precedent texts, the appeal to which has become a sign of modern mass fiction (on the example of the works of T. Polyakova). Precedence is understood by us as a phenomenon adjacent to intertextuality, but sometimes covering a wider range of texts and statements stored in the "cultural memory" of native speakers. T. Polyakova's detective novels are full of intertextual and precedent elements (direct quotations, quasi-quotes, references). Precedent texts are classified according to the source and the way they refer to the pretext. The functions of precedents in a literary text depend on the intentions of the author
