The article deals with the methodological issues of literary criticism and the problems of studying the history of literature in a theoretical aspect. The author first of all draws attention to those aspects of their artistic heritage that are most consonant with our time, the ideological and artistic searches of Kyrgyz writers. Recently, a lot has been done in criticism to comprehend the genre and ideological and artistic innovation of the narrative forms of modern literature, to reveal the main trends in their interaction and development. But, unfortunately, when evaluating the achievements or artistic miscalculations of current literature, some critics consider it only in a straightforward correlation with the characteristics of the era, the time of its creation, outside the broad historical and literary context, outside the historical landmarks marked on the long path of development of a particular genre
