Melis Makenbayev is a writer who, with his twelve novels, not only increased the number of Kyrgyz novels, but also introduced innovations in terms of quality and raised them to a new height. A set of his works are bitter truths about life in the world of barbed wire, during the Soviet era, unwritten laws, market conditions during the years of independence, unemployment, life in difficult conditions. His works introduce readers to such things as life in prison, various people in it, unwritten prison laws, attitude towards people, rules of behavior in prison, translation of their native language into prison, things that were not understood by ordinary people living everyday life
