In today’s time, young specialists for practical solutions to professional and life problems in many cases do not depend on the knowledge, skills and abilities they have acquired. Now, in addition to these terms, the concepts of «competence» and «competencies» have begun to be used, which more deeply satisfy the modern goals of education. In the article, the authors reveal the essence of the competence approach as a modern educational paradigm, which is actualized as a condition for the formation of the future teacher’s research competence. The competence-based approach in education allows us to successfully solve the problem of forming the final result of training - meta-subject general learning skills, skills, knowledge of scientific training activities. The reasons for the need to introduce a competence-based approach into the education system of the republic are substantiated and the stages of the formation of the teacher’s research activity are characterized.
