PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE OF A TEACHER OF HIGHER EDUCATION

In this article, the meaning of the concept of professional competence of a teacher of a higher education institution is considered. The author offers a definition of the concept of professional competence of the teacher, personal qualities that make up the main elements of the general model of the university teacher, and aspects that reveal the quality of the teacher. In the model of personal qualities of university teachers, the author includes: deep knowledge of the subject, pedagogical mastery, a wide scientific horizon, a desire for innovation and scientific creativity, knowledge of scientific research methods and innovative mobility, in particular, knowledge of foreign languages and computer technologies, and also specify each aspect. The aspects correspond to the modern requirements of the teacher’s activities and concrete examples. The article may be useful to researchers who are interested in the problem of professional competence of university teachers, as the results of the study are presented in it
