Idioms are stereotyped word groups that describe a concept, an idea, an event with few words and strengthen oral and written expression. Idioms, add vitality beauty to the narrative. It enables the expression of feelings, thoughts and concepts more easily and effectively. In this seminar, the features and sructure of the idoms in the themes and texts in the Turkish 5th grade textbook were examined. The aim of the seminar is to examine the idioms in our Turkish vocabulary in terms of form and concept, and to indicate the contribution of idioms to the text and their achievements for students. First of all, the themesand texts in the textbook were examined. The idioms in the texts in each theme were determined. The structure and conceptual features of these idioms are explained in detail. The contribution of the idioms to the narration and their suitability to the theme were determined. At the end of the analysis, it is understood that these idioms were chosen according to the theme and subject covered in the texts. There are eight themes and forty texts in the Turkish 5th grade textbook. In each theme, there are also activity sections related to the processed text. These idioms in the text are also included in the activity studies. Thus, it is aimed to understand and use the idioms in the text effectively
