The article deals with lexico-semantic peculiarities of compound words of the Old Turkic language. The eastern origin of some studied complex words is determined; traditional scientific research and materials of fiction were used in determining the eastern origin. The comparison of compound words in dialectal, homonymic and non-native languages of the Kyrgyz language was 
used when considering complex words in “Divan”. Due to the fact that complex words are often 
found in the mentioned dictionary, such issues as the change of meaning of each word, structural arrangement of its components were not left unattended. The linguistic data in this invaluable work of Mahmud Kashgari was of historical-comparative nature in relation to the materials of the modern Kyrgyz language. On the basis of etymological study, it was established that individual words can be attributed to the root member and undergo a change of vowel sounds
