DEEPLY RESPECTED TILIKASH ISHIMBEKOVICH!
The 85th anniversary of Mr Tilektesh Ishemkulov is a major event for Kyrgyz society, journalism and pedagogy. For future journalists, Mr Tilektesh Ishemkulov's life is a university in itself, a model path. When we were students, Telykesh Ishemkulov was the editor-in-chief of the Sovetskaya Kyrgyzstan newspaper. We used to admire him, dreaming, ‘If only we could become journalists like him, editors-in-chief like him, figures as well-known as he is.’ He will always remain a mentor to young people. In the USSR era there were only two schools of journalism: one was the journalism department of the National University, and the other was the two newspapers of that time: ‘Soviet Kyrgyzstan’ and ‘Leninist Youth.’ Most of the journalists in Kyrgyzstan over the past 40–50 years have flown from the nest of these two schools of journalism – the Department of Journalism at the National University and the newspaper Sovetskaya Kyrgyzstan (now Kyrgyz Tûûsu), led by Ishemkulov.
