THE IMPACT OF FAMILY POVERTY ON CHILDREN'S FUTURE

A. Ukueva, Zh.K. Shaimbetova

The research examines the impact of family poverty on human capital formation and the future socio-economic trajectories of children. The main mechanisms of intergenerational poverty transmission are analyzed, including limited access to quality education, healthcare services, adequate nutrition, and a safe social environment. Particular attention is paid to the negative effects of chronic psychosocial stress on children’s cognitive and non-cognitive development, learning motivation, planning horizons, and social mobility. The study identifies the macroeconomic consequences of high child poverty, including reduced labor productivity, increased public social expenditure, rising inequality, and the reproduction of poverty in subsequent generations. Based on international experience, the article substantiates the need for comprehensive state interventions aimed at early support for vulnerable children, investment in education and healthcare, strengthening family social protection, and breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty.
